Something New Is Galloping Into Downtown
If you've been around downtown for a while, you may remember that the Amarillo Building was once home to one of Center City of Amarillo's colorful Hoof Prints horses. After several years away, we're excited to announce that a horse will once again call the Amarillo Building home.
Our new horse will be unveiled later this month as part of Center City's Hoof Prints program, a community-wide public art display celebrating the history and spirit of the American Quarter Horse. Sponsored by local businesses and brought to life by talented local artists, the horses have become one of Amarillo's most recognizable public art traditions, highlighting our city's western heritage and creative spirit.
We'll be sharing more details soon, including the official unveiling date. We can't wait for everyone to meet the newest addition to the Amarillo Building.
Don't forget there's still time to help preserve our community’s history. Our search for 100 historic Amarillo photographs continues through July 15. We're looking for images that tell the story of our city over the last century. If you have a favorite family photograph, a historic downtown scene, or a snapshot of everyday Amarillo life, we'd love to see it. Finally, as we celebrate the places and people that make Amarillo special, we'll also take time this month to celebrate our nation. This Independence Day marks America's 250th birthday, reminding us how fortunate we are to live in a country where communities like ours can grow, preserve their history, and look toward the future. We wish you and your family a safe and happy Fourth of July.
Welcome to the Building!
Please help us welcome DISCO to the Amarillo Building community. The company has recently expanded into Suites 520 and 525, bringing another long-established Panhandle business to downtown Amarillo.
Founded in 1946, DISCO is a family-owned company that has spent nearly 80 years serving the energy and industrial sectors throughout the Texas Panhandle, South Plains, western Oklahoma, and southwest Kansas. Over the decades, the company has continued to evolve alongside the industries it serves, providing repair, manufacturing, and technical services that help keep businesses operating efficiently.
We're excited to welcome the DISCO team to the Amarillo Building and hope you'll take a moment to introduce yourself the next time you see them around the building.
Abilities Conference Returns July 11
Our friends at the Coalition of Health Services are inviting families, caregivers, educators, and professionals to the Route 66 Abilities Conference on Saturday, July 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at First Christian Church. The conference is designed to connect families with valuable resources, educational opportunities, and organizations that support children and adults with disabilities. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from conference speakers, visit with exhibitors, and learn about services available throughout our community.
Biscuits, Gravy, and Good Times
